~ You’re an expat in a faraway land, lonely and thirsty… You’re walking down dark streets when you stumble upon a small red wooden door wedged into a mountainside. You step in, layers of hanging silk brush your face as you make your way through the entrance hallway, cigarette and incense smoke filling your lungs. Inside, a beautiful woman sings into a standing microphone as her jewels drape and sparkle like drops of gold. You’re immediately entranced, your soul is hers now… ~
PRIYYA’s “Golden Child” is sultry, mysterious trip-hop that floats on a carpet of chants. Her vocals, soothing and innocent at first, reveal traces of mania as they’re stretched and chopped in classic beat fashion, all led by a steady, hypnotizing percussion. This one is for you lovers of that tasteful trip-hop we haven’t heard since Jazzanova…
Based in New Jersey, PRIYYA is a Nepal native who explores her identity through music. “Golden Child” is her debut single, was written by herself and Deanna DiLandro, and produced by Derrick Braxton AKA “DrKBxt.” Needless to say, we’re really looking forward to what PRIYYA has up her sleeve.
