Midnight Conversations is now available in on black vinyl on Bandcamp, just in time for the holidays! Extremely limited run of 100, so you’d better hurry up!
As you may or may not know, our good friends Astari Nite just completed a short run of dates in Germany, a mini-tour put together by Bruno of Danse Macabre Records aptly called Danse Macabre Festival. This is not the first time Mychael, Illia, and Howard of Astari Nite have toured Germany, but this time the journey was documented in a very special way. Vocalist Mychael put together for us a visual tour diary, a series of photographs and commentary that gives the tour and Germany itself a sense of wonder and adventure.
This diary offers a rare glimpse into the mind behind the lyrics and vocals of Astari Nite, as well as shining a light on Illia’s amazing skills as a photographer. All in all, it makes us want to leave the Too Much Love office here in Florida and go wander around the old continent!
To add to the hype of the moment, Astari Nite just released Midnight Conversations on vinyl. This is the first time the band has music available in this format, so one can expect the limited press to quite literally fly off the shelves, and most likely become a rather coveted collectors item in the post-punk circles.
Let’s check out Astari Nite’s photo diary of the German tour!

Shortly after landing in Essen, Germany we traveled to our hotel to catch up on a bit of sleep. I was hoping to hear “Never Tear Us Apart ” by INXS for personal reasons or at the very least I might be surprised by a Nirvana track making its way to the driver’s boombox. Instead Metallica played, over and over and over and over again.

Illia quickly found solace by reading a book that I can assure you was not about baking a wedding cake.

Backstage at Don’t Panic in Essen. The Queen presented me with a poison apple.

Still backstage, I stumbled upon the living quarters for some of the bands on our tour. I thought it was very SMURF village / I love everyone-ish.

Konstantin and Nikolas of Wisborg were our guides for the tour. We quickly became friends and I miss them both deeply. It sadness me that we are so far away from each other, though I know we will meet again. Anyone with a heartbeat should listen to their track called Becoming Caligari, as well as the rest of their catalog.

More and more I continue to resemble SNOOPY in photographs. We got to spend some time with Marc Schorlemmer of Music To Die For, which is a blog that he tends shares thoughts and music on. We made the grade.

Christmas is everywhere in Germany, and so are apples.

Backstage at Subkultur in Hannover. As Illia continues to sleep, I am left wondering if he might’ve been Nosferatu in a former life.

I don’t really miss God, but I sure miss Santa Claus.

Normally Illia will leave something behind,
I just didn’t think it would be a pair of
boots in another country.

Howard and our beautiful friend Gwijde Wampers, singer for Ground Nero.
Somehow I know they are both related, I am certain of this.

My friend Dylan Pride joined us for a performance of Pyramids. KIR in Hamburg was the last place on earth I ever thought I would see him being that he lives on the west coast of Florida. A true gentleman he is and he’ll always be a friend to me.
This photograph was sent to us by Sash Homefield.

These are some of the key individuals that made this trip possible and Astari Nite is forever thankful for the kindness that every involved had for one another. This world is strange, and I find myself in love with it more and more.

This was one of the entrances to the Christmas village in Hamburg. Thousands of heart beats filled the streets to the sounds of holiday music, and the scent hot chocolate / candy cane was in the air.

My heart was left floating in this river, can you see it?

At this moment is when I made a wish for Flor Frances on her Birthday. She is very special to me, kind of like Under The Milky Way by The Church.

Illia forever guiding the path with the brightest light, you know what I mean?

The things that this man (Illia) make appear
are proof that magic is real, and it lives
in front of us all.

As I stepped into the car to make my way to the airport for the never-ending plane ride home, I noticed this Santa something on the street. I whispered to myself “Of course you would be here, I’ve always believed in you.”
