Demolition Exhibition: Art and Music at Rivington Music
Located on Stanton Street in the Lower East Side, Rivington Music Rehearsal Studios (RMRS) is a well known fixture in the New York music scene. Everyone has passed by the studios at some point, for some reason. In the last few years after their renovations they’ve been regularly hosting art on walls and hallways, doubling as a underground gallery. The art is hung with the only condition that there not be anything overtly offensive and to be in some way related to music. This relationship can happen any way, be it friendship, a musician making art, pieces inspired in some kind of music, etc…. The art on the walls typically hangs for 3 to 5 months, and is always a conversation starter.
This month they’re presenting and hosting Demolition Exhibition, an exposition by multiple artists of the NY area, curated by Johnny V (Johnny Velardi) and Ned Lindsey. All kinds of media are used, as all techniques. From drawing and painting to welding and scavenging, creativity will be at it’s utmost on the walls of RMRS for the winter season. Anyone willing to pass by the studios can enjoy the exhibition for free at 188 Stanton street.
A full list of the artists is available on the event pages of the evening or on the flyer.
