Elz and The Cult

Elz and The Cult – “Ominous”

“Ominous” combines the best of many worlds: terror movies, gothic rock and synth wave. This song by Elz and The Cult, kicks off with a mysterious voice emulating a robot in the distance and vintage horror movie synths, that could well have been included in the soundtrack of “Dark Shadows”. The melody gradually evolves into a dark wave track that could make many bodies dance in a gothic party.

This version of “Ominous” is a rework of a demo that the band originally composed in 2014. The musicians decided to remix and remaster the old version and to make it available for free download on their Soundcloud for their fans and dark wave enthusiasts.

Elz and the Cult is a trio based in Istanbul, Turkey.  Mixing dark-wave and electroclash sounds with gothic rock aesthetics, the band performed on many important platforms including Sofar Sounds and gained critical acclaim with the release of their debut single “I Did This To Myself”, the band got an impressive feedback both on local and international platforms. With the release of their 10-track debut album ‘Polycephaly’ in 2017, the trio is taking their sound on the live stage. they are heavily influenced by the likes of Bauhaus, Marilyn Manson, Depeche Mode and The Cure.
