Delicate vocals, beautiful guitar melodies and 50’s style instrumentation is what makes of “Lament” a perfect song to listen on a Summer evening. The track is the first single from Evelyn’s debut EP, Light Full, released in March 2017.
Evelyn is a five-piece band making hearts-ontheir-sleeves alt-rock out of Brooklyn, NY. Founded by frontwoman Dani Lencioni, the group expanded to include Drew Broussard (guitar), Jordan Kisner (vocals), Bryan Miltenberg (drums), and Zach Joy Smith (bass).
“This is a coming of age album for me.” says Lencioni. “These are all songs I wrote at a time I was reckoning with my past and really learning what it means to be happy. So there’s a lot of nostalgia, but it also turned into a declaration about where I am. I struggle with memory, I struggle with grief, I struggle to be open — but I also try my very hardest to be present and to hold space for the wonderful parts of my life. The title track especially is sort of my aspirational ode to joy.”
