May is upon us ! While for most of the country this means that spring is finally starting to arrive, Miamians are all to aware that temperatures are about to soar, and our 300 days of summer has begun. 100 degrees with 100% humidity might make the farmers market slightly less pleasurable, but at least we live in a place that truly comes alive once the sun sets.
To make it that much easier for you, we at TML have decided to list some events not to miss this upcoming weekend!
With a little bit of everything for everyone, here are our picks:
May 11th – The Life and Times at Gramps
(Cover Photo)
As the third stop on their current tour, The Life and Times will be playing alongside PLS PLS, Prison Warder and Ta Bien at Gramps Wynwood tomorrow (the 11th of may). For over a decade this band has stayed prolific and constantly evolving, and we love what they recently said about their southern tour: “There’s a wise old adage that says “never play in Florida”. But here at TLAT HQ, we brazenly throw the baby out with the bathwater and spit straight into the wind of logic and will proudly follow any fool off of any cliff”.
Looking forward to it !
May 11th – Bleach Garden at Las Rosas
Some more out of towners will be playing at Las Rosas on Friday night (The 11th of May)! The free show will be headlined by Bleach Garden (a three piece Grunge/ Alternative band from Atlanta Georgia) and the show will be kicking off at 10pm. The night will also include bands: Analog (miami grunge rock) Palomino Blond and Real People.
May 12th – Luicidal at Churchill’s
California Punk Rock outfit and former Suicidal Tendency member’s Luicidal, will be performing at Churchills on Saturday (the 12th of may). They will be performing songs from the first 3 Suicidal tendency albums, and will be followed by acts such as Infernal Diatribe and Armageddon Man.
May 12th – Tigermilk at Las Rosas w/ Private School
On saturday the 12th is Tigermilk at Las Rosas. Hosted by JoSef Orion Pizarro & Friends, tigermilk is Miami’s new monthly Brit-Pop/alternative Dance Party. To make May’s edition even more special, they have special guests Private School performing live at 11:30pm and DJ set by Mario Giancarlo Garibaldi!
May 12th – The Fetish Factory presents: Provocateur social event at Ultra Lounge
Also on the 12th, The Fetish Factory presents: Provocateur – Fetish Social. The Provocateur series are the best ones to start getting your feet wet in the popular Ft.Lauderdale kink scene, and all are welcome to basks in the sensory wonders they have to offer. From erotic performances, go-go dancers and live Dj sets from DEADHEAD & PAUL KLOV, this event is not as wild as you can imagine, but offers a palatable and sensuous evening, enough to excite, but not too much to overwhelm a newcomer. Think masks, lingerie and naughty winks.
The Black Market at Churchill’s Pub
Why not end the weekend right, and spend a mothersday where both mother and child can have fun at The Black Market. As always, this cherished event will be hosted by Churchill’s Pub, but to honor the holiday, there will be extra special amenities including many live performances, drag shows, food vendors, vintage and handmade apparel, and many more – all for only a $5 cover. The event is from 5pm-12am and is all ages !
