Exclusive Interview with Kendra and the Bunnies
Hello! Welcome and so glad we get to chat today! Start us off by telling us something most people don’t know about you and would be surprised to know?
Thanks for having me today! People may be surprised to know that I am currently writing my third book. It’s a novel-memoir with a fantastical perspective, well, my perspective… The two books I have published are poetry (and are available on Amazon Books and through Barnes & Noble). I also write journalistic pieces, scripts, music reviews, and philosophical opinionated essays.
Do you listen to other artists to get inspiration and is there a particular song that never fails to move you emotionally?
I seek out inspiration from all sorts of avenues — literature, music, visual arts, performance arts, and moments that call to me. I’ve realized that the inspiration that speaks to me through various art mediums is a huge reason I attend certain events or listen to particular songs. For instance, concerts that I go to often lead to me writing poetry which leads to songwriting ventures. I then perform those inspired songs during my concerts and the wheel spins on. Songs that always draw emotion: “In The Flowers” by Animal Collective, “Pebbles and Marbles” by Phish, and “Little Black Sandals” by Sia.
Tell us what would your friends and family say they appreciate the most about you?
My willingness to listen. I am told I have a unique perspective and give excellent advice. I appreciate the guidance that my elders have spoke to me, and I channel that learning into my creativity as descriptively as possible.
What is your favorite social media platform to connect with your fans and why?
I love to connect with fans in person, at shows, at events, and through friends. I am very active on social media. I treat my profiles like virtual art galleries and poetry journals — documenting my day to day experiences and creative content. Instagram brings me a specific niche, and Facebook is like a broader circle of people I more or less know. I am also very active on YouTube and WordPress [www.thepoliticsofkendra.com]
