Gabriela Paludi is a eclectic artist, born and based in Buenos Aires. Her passion for art led her to explore visual and multimedia grounds.
With her work Gabriela blends different techniques such as collage, drawing and animation.
In this interview we share a brief overview of the history and works of this artist, where her love for creation and exploration is shown.
Profession: I studied Visual Arts at IUNA (National University of the Arts), majoring in painting. I am also a plastic artist and I currently work as an art director at a digital marketing agency.
When did you start painting, drawing and making collages?
When I search for my earliest memories, where everything started, I remember that my paternal grandmother introduced me to collage. Whenever I got sick and I had to miss school, my grandmother took care of me. She used to give me old magazines, paper, glue and pencils for me to create. She also taught me how to knit and sew. I was fascinated. Also when I was a little girl I loved playing at my dad’s workshop and using all his tools.
What sparked your passion for art?
My passion awakened when I started creating. Feeling the satisfaction of expressing myself and speaking trough art is what I love.
I always liked watching the work of other artists too, getting to know them and understand them through their pieces. The first artist that made me feel butterflies in the belly was Van Gogh. His work and life impacted me in such a way that I wanted to study art.
How did you feel when you exhibit your work for the first time?
Rare. On one side I was happy for the recognition but, on the other, I felt they were invading my privacy. Sometimes I keep on having that feeling. I think I put a lot of personal things in my work, and when someone contemplates my pieces it feels like they were watching me naked.
Your art in 3 words: Irony, perception, contradiction.
What was the most extreme emotion that you ever reflected in your work?
Working with objects that belonged to family members who are no longer with us really touched me … I had a weird mix of satisfaction and distress. Satisfaction because I was seeking to perpetuate them trough an art piece; but I also felt the anguish of the irreparable loss.
An artist that gives you Goosebumps… Two: Frida Kahlo / Van Gogh

Cuándo empezaste a pintar, dibujar y hacer collages?
Me fascinaba.
Aún me sigue pasando.
