Records, turntables, and audiophile sound systems are all that you need, really.
Our dear friends and broadcast partners Jolt Radio are ready to wow art lovers and thrill seekers this edition of Art Basel/Miami art week. By opening the Jolt Lounge, the local radio station is bringing to the public what most people don’t usually get to experience: A truly amazing sound system in action, powering a lineup of local and non-local vinyl DJs. Special guests are expected, but will not be announced until day of show, in an effort to keep the interest fair on all performers and on the experience itself.
The lineup will include local Miami notables and Jolt Radio friends such as Mikey Ramirez (Owner of Technique Records), David Sinopoli (III Points), and Andrew (Watch More Things). Several of the Jolt Radio hosts and resident DJs will also be spinning, including Micelady, Flor Frances, DJ Dino, and Mr.Jolt himself. Friends, DJs, and musicians of all kinds are encouraged to visit and enjoy the lounge, the sound system, and maybe even jump on the decks!
The lounge will be officially open from 2PM to 6PM from Thursday the 6th to Sunday the 9th. The music will be broadcasted life on Joltradio.org, and Brooklyn based Half Moon community radio will be simulcasting (aka re-broadcasting simultaneously, as in…. at the same time… get it?) the show also. Each session will also be recorded in HD video, and tapes will be recorded live of each DJ’s performance. Additionally, on Friday evening the Doodle Gang will be in the Lounge decorating the walls live! The LA outfit will be creating original artwork while the DJs spin.
The Jolt Lounge is located at the 777 International Mall, on Flagler St, downtown Miami. The entire mall is now the property of Mana Contemporary and rented as art spaces, galleries, independent shops, and exhibition spaces. It is now one of the best places for visitors to explore young Miami artists, visiting exhibitors and in general a great place to experience the real Magic City art and attitude. Located at 145 E Flagler St, Miami, FL 33131, it is open every day during business hours. When you visit the 777 Mall, Too Much Love recommends checking out the zine store Dale Zine, and if you’re hungry make sure to check out Plant Altar, an amazingly creative vegan food business!
