Christian Cooley (A.K.A. Leitvox) teamed up with the late British singer Gavin Clark (UNKLE) and composed a beautiful electronic ballad that serves as a message of hope for the young people willing to find new opportunities by leaving their country.
The video, directed by Flaminguettes, is full of elements related to life in Mexico and the differences in culture there. Utilizing a magical and almost haunted scenario, the video features the story of four girls alternating between two different societies. As the deep voice of Gavin Clark sings “Jump Now, there’s a Whole Other Country for us” the girls stay suspended in the air, in between worlds.
“‘A Whole Other Country’ is a song that depicts the possibility to live in foreign worlds while remembering the significance of our origins. That is what Gavin and I tried to say in this track; we put in our skills and our sound without leaving our individual roots.” –Leitvox .
“A Whole Other Country” is the first single of Leitvox’s debut LP, Floating Promises released last year in Mexico and set to be released in the U.S. next month. The album features collaborations with Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails), Gavin Clark and James Griffith (Unkle) Nina Miranda (Smoke City) and Ana Karla Escobar. The album was produced by Phil Vinall, who has worked with bands like Pulp, Radiohead and Placebo, with additional production by Unkle’s leader Pablo Clements.
Floating Promises has 9 songs and 4 bonus tracks with remixes by Ladytron, GusGus, Son Lux and Nortec. The artwork and videos of the album are directed and produced by the renowned photographer Neil Krug who has directed the visual art of projects of Lana del Rey, Justice, Tame Impala and Bat for Lashes.
Leitvox is a Mexican producer and composer that recently moved to Miami to open his own studio in Wynwood and start promoting his music in the U.S. His first EP, Fall From You, released in 2012, was acclaimed by the press in his country and served as a foundation for its successor Floating Promises.
