Motörhead are here to show us that regardless of the legal state of Lemmy Kilmister (deceased but still ruling) they are still the overlords of Rock ‘n’ Roll. And they forever will be. And, in their majesty, and amazing musical talent, the band still had time to recognize, befriend and pay tribute to an amazing list of other musicians.
This is “Under Cover”. An album of covers performed by Motörhead throughout the years, complied into one last tremendous hurrah! These covers span from 1992 (Ozzy Osbourne’s Hellraiser) to just before the untimely passing of Lemmy in 2015 (Rolling Stone’s Sympathy For The Devil, and David Bowie’s Heroes) and touch a real variety of artists, including the Ramones, Judas Priest and Metallica.
“It’s such a great Bowie song, one of his best, and I could only see great things coming out of it from us, and so it proved to be,” says Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell, “Lemmy ended up loving our version.”
“He was very, very proud of it,” adds drummer Mikkey Dee, “Not only because it turned out so well but because it was fun! Which is what projects like this should be – fun!”
From here at Too Much Love we salute Lemmy, and thank him for all this years of music, and the fact that his passion inspired thousands of people, and made happy millions of people around the world.
Let’s go “Under Cover” with “Heroes”!!
