SAÍGO is drawing upon his background as a Vietnamese-American son of refugees. The Los Angeles based future-soul producer/vocalist narrates the abrupt arrival of a dystopian future in his new single “Neither,” produced by Alexander Vincent and Kan Wakan.
“Neither” deals with the unrealistic expectations we have from our heroes or people we admire. “It was written about the peril of idealizing those we admire, and how we magnify the inevitable disappointment,” says SAIGO. “We are in the process of renewal, redrawing the borders of our societal grey areas, tearing down the glossy posters of our false saints and fallen idols.”
I couldn’t help but think of all the scandals happening in the entertainment industry and how many of those people were icons and/or idols for some, and at the end they ended up doing horrible things.
If you are in LA catch him on his last residency night, next Monday (Feb 26th) at The Bootleg.
