Smoke Season have one ethos in their lives: normal is fucking boring.
“A song about a moment of magnetism towards someone you have just met,” say Gabby and Jason (Smoke Season) about their new single “Sweetest Thing.”
Gabrielle Bianco considers herself a mad scientist, with a passion for tinkering with both the analog and the digital: she has built light setups and stage props for Smoke Season’s music videos and live shows; she also can program a mean code script though has vowed to use her hacking skills for good. Jason Rosen expresses his brand of abnormality with fashion and grooves, never letting either stagnate. He laments the limits of menswear, opting to flaunt items from Gabby’s closet because fuck gender stereotypes too.
Their upcoming record connects to each of them very differently. For Gabby, it is a reclamation of her body and her fluid sexuality after a traumatic assault that persisted for her both physically and psychologically. For Jay it connects to his Jamaican roots, embracing his mixed race identity in a way that he hasn’t before.
