With hard snares, slide guitars, fuzzy vocals and even fuzzier bass guitar, “KID” starts off 2018 in style for LA band Spirit in the Room. The track progresses in complexity and noise, while the vocals stay steady and melodic throughout the track. “KID” is a song that fits equally good on a dance floor of a rock club as it does sounding out of a jukebox in a bar.
“Everything starts with the beat and the bass. Then I use the guitar to dress everything up, kinda like a christmas tree, you know? The lyrics, about a bunch of different things, tend to be about cutting a cord, letting yourself go with a relationship that you know might drag you down. I do believe in a higher power, so it touches my music in someways also. I don’t know how some people might read that, but it is how it is.” – Dennis.
Dennis Sanders is the frontman and creative force behind Spirit In The Room. Together with bassist Darren Howard and guitarist Kyle Nadeau, the band puts out a very particular blend of high energy, eclectic rock. Noticeable influences include Nick Cave, Depeche Mode and Black Sabbath, with a good dose of punk ethos thrown in for good measure.
“KID” is out now on all digital platforms via Anti-Language Records.
