“From the Sidewalk” is a moody, melancholic rock jam perfectly suited for those long, pensive days. The beginning is slow and steady, supported by poetic and contemplative lyrics. It eventually rises to an epic, banging peak, only to ground itself in a peaceful ending. What hooked me, however, wasn’t its catharsis-inducing musical pattern — it’s an instrumental element that only reveals itself halfway into the song. Patience is key here.
Over The Trees is a five-man band from Oslo, Norway, and “From The Sidewalk” is the title track from their upcoming album. They’re inspired by the music of Sigur Rós, Blonde Redhead, and Radiohead; and have made use of overlooked spaces like their bedrooms, a church, and a parking garage to record elements of their music.
