Sara Von Kienegger a New York based Austrian born artist, photographer, painter and designer will be exhibiting her new body of work, “Fallen Stars” with Espace Meyer Zafra at Art Miami during Art Basel.
Von Kienegger’s art installation “Fallen Stars” captures her subjects’ pain while celebrating their life. There is a thread of commonality as each individual speaks to the artist differently. The subjects in the paintings reflect the honesty of their diversity, vulnerability and strength inspiring her portraits with varied emotion, somber yet alive. While an apprentice of world-renowned calligrapher Khalifa El Shimy, she noticed the brutality and incongruity that enveloped much of the Middle East and realized art brings Peace, Tranquility, and Unity, a mantra of hers that exudes in her work.
“It’s very personal” says Von Kienegger, “as the demons that destroyed their souls attempted to drown me, but now that same pain that used to keep me in an abyss of darkness challenges my balance like a wave I ride when I surf.”
In addition to exhibiting at Art Miami, Von Kienegger’s award winning piece “Fallen Stars: The Mondrian Series” was selected from over 140 artists to be displayed at the VIP entrance at Art Spectrum and Art Mana from December 3 -7, 2014. Spectrum Miami will take place in Wynwood.
On Thursday December 4, from 8:00pm – 11:00pm, Von Kienegger and the Art of Elysium will host an event at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach. The poolside event will include a special performance presented by Los Angeles gallery MAMA featuring “Wading Games”, a first time, one night only, punk rock water ballet by Ryan Heffington with video installation by Osk and music remixed for the performance by BANKS.
You can see Sara’s work at Art Miami in Booth C21 from December 2 – 7, 2014.
