Have you ever swum alone in a pool in the middle of the night? I suppose it’s close to one of those sensory deprivation tanks, and I cannot recommend the experience hard enough, it is very delightful, to say the least.

The reason why I pose this question in the first place is because “Me Time” triggered that very memory in my brain almost instantly upon hitting play. The song had an easy time enveloping me in its warmth, making me immediately feel buoyant and free to let myself get carried away pleasantly in the moment. And wouldn’t you know it, as I watched the lonesome music video for this single, Shiloh regaled us with a spot of late-night swimming; a testament to how much a “vibe” can be shared between artist and listener when the correct musical language is used, something which the relative novice Shiloh seems to have an excellent grasp on.

If you’re from the SoCal general area or if you’re a music blog enthusiast, chances are you’re already Familiar with Christine Schatz. In 2010 she founded the music curation blog “The Loop” and spent quite some time as a popular DJ in the local scene. Now assuming the role of Singer, Songwriter and producer Christine works under the “Shiloh Eyes” to channel her creative energy into a project that places “Transformation and vulnerability at the center” in order to bring about soothing respite to the wounded soul. Christine has called this song a “proclamation to healing and reclaiming”, not just for her, but for the listener as well.

“Me Time” began being written just as Christine was finally picking up the pieces after a traumatic divorce that had left her wounded and stranded in Pennsylvania. Turninganguish into positive creative energy, Christine began working in what would later become Shiloh Eyes by taking over her own emotional recovery process.

For a debut single, I feel like Shiloh’s set the bar quite high with “Me Time”, and it fills me with a good kind of uncertainty and expectation. What will her next song sound like? how will her sound shape up by the time we have an EP in our hands? the prospects that come from catching someone so promising so early in their developmental stage are certainly exciting, and I can only hope there’s more coming sooner rather than later.
