Shows to see this week: MMW takes over!
A descension of electronic music has usurped the locale, as Miami Music Week commenced on Monday the 25th of March. Now officially apart of Miami Music Week, the iconic Winter Music Conference is also well into it’s scheduled programming, and hold on to your bucket hats people, as Ultra will be opening its gates on Friday, March 29th. The Bermuda Triangle of electronic music is upon us, and while it is incredibly exciting for Miami EDM fans (and beyond), with every bar, club and corner store try to capitalize on the iconic brands, streamlining the not-to-be-missed events came be overwhelming. So we’ve done it for you!
Thursday, March 28th – The Messthetics (Ex-Fugazi) @ Las Rosas
Presented by Heros Live Entertainment and Las Rosas, The Messthetics – the progressive instrumental trio, with a legendary rhythm section (Brendan Canty (drums), Joe Lally (bass) formerly of Fugazi) will be taking over the Las Rosas stage. With support from experimental harpist/noise artist Mary Lattimore and guitarist/audio engineer Rat Bastard, show-goers are sure to be rewarded with some intensely interesting instrumentation! Friday, March 29th – Boys Noize & Friends @ Inside Out Miami
While the proverbial ribbon has only just been cut for the opening of Inside Out, the freshly renovated and reimagined venue/bar (originally inhabited by Sidebar) already has an impressive lineup of parties and music. This Friday, starting at 10 pm, electro powerhouse Boys Noise will be taking over the space, along with special guest DJ’s Sophie, Jubilee and more. This is a free event with an RSVP, so get your ticket now while they last!
Friday, March 29th – Lucid: Third Annual pajama party @ The Villain Theater
Presented by Internet Friends, Untitled Miami and Late for work, an underground music offering takes full form on Friday with Lucid. Sprawling over numerous stages, some of Miami’s best underground DJs and party pioneers will be banging out tunes from 11 pm to 4:30 am. From dark techno to Miami bounce and more, the event and it’s lineup (including Sister system, Ashley Venom, Virgo and beyond) has you covered. Need a break from dancing? Step outside and wander around vendor booths and pop-ups they have on offer, featuring Porn Nail$, Midnight Thrift, Retro Vice Vintage and open turntables to name a few. This being its last MMW, since the announcement of is impending closure, The Electric Pickle is making this one count. House meets disco connoisseur DJ Harvey is back for a final spin and will be playing an exclusive extended set in honor of the occasion. While advance tickets have sold out, General Admission tickets will be available at the door on a first come, first served basis, so get there early! Doors are opened at 10 pm and are closed at 5 am!
Saturday, March 30th – Space Invaders present Saturday MMW @ Club Space
Space Invaders & Link Miami Rebels present an all day, all night, all of Space event! For a rare MMW special, all rooms at Club Space will be open to dance and explore. With a packed line-up, including Phoenecia, Magdalena, Anshaw Black and much much more, the notorious venue is very much a MMW destination. Careful though, unrestricted access can only be granted with an ‘anytime entry ticket’, which you can purchase below!
