Each month at the historic punk rock bar and local favorite watering hole Churchill’s Pub, a Mad Max bazaar of vendors, musicians and artists pops up. The Black Market is an alternative flea market featuring over 25 local vendors selling used vinyl records, vintage clothing, arts and crafts, handmade jewelry, zines, memorabilia and everything in between. The market has a rotating line up of some of Miami’s most unique merchants and artists, from Dopedoll Vintage selling rare vintage band tees and vinyl, handmade crystal jewelry by ABA Jewels, visual artist Porn Nails salon pop up, Pyrokinetic Glass live glass blowing to a vast selection of smoking accessories by HySociety.
The live entertainment cohesively blends into each months overall event theme showcasing an incredible selection of music from a wide spectrum of genres of rock, with bands like Anastasia Max, Afrobeta, Psychic Dove, Lone Wolf, and Deaf Poets. The lineup and event is carefully curated by Pumpkin Heart‘s Panther Cordts to promote Miami’s homegrown talent. DJ’s also spin live music throughout the market from the likes of Jolt Radio Dopedoll Transmission’s Babyface Blitz and Orlando’s DeviantArt Heaux. Plus this month the drag queens of The Haus of Ungodly work it with their fabulous performances in the newly renovated back patio Green Room.
Panther has been the driving force behind the markets collective and has a hands on DIY approach to each event, which in the past has included a haunted house, comedy showcase, fashion show and this month a BarLab take over bartender competition hosted by Hendricks Gin. In a bartender death match showdown, the expert cocktail makers from Broken Shaker, 27 Restaurant and The Anderson will battle against each other to create an original cocktail using Hendrick’s Gin. Attendees are invited to judge and vote on their favorite drink, the final winner will be voted on by a special judge panel.
Make sure to check out The Black Market this Sunday, 1/12/2018 & every second Sunday of the month at Churchill's Pub 5501 Northeast 2nd Avenue, Miami!
