While Miami is often overlooked as a music epicenter, this seems to only fuel the fire of the local music community to dispel such an undeserved myth. Yet again, we are in for a week jam packed with live music events you’d be sorry to miss.
Here is our new weekly line-up of our top picks!
Friday, May 18 – Cannabis Corpse at Gramps
Death metal powerhouse and crowd favourite Cannabis Corpse will be playing at Gramps on friday. The show will be the third stop on their current Left Hand Pass Spring tour, and they’ll be joined by Implosive Disgorgence, Hellmass, and Flesh and Bone. The event is $12 at the door and is well worth it!
Friday, May 18th – Night of the Living Punks & Rock’n’Roll Marketplace
This event will be kicking off at the old faithful, Churchill’s Pub tomorrow. With a solid lineup of local talent, PLUS the option to browse and buy local art and apparel, you can’t go wrong with this as your Saturday night. The acts start at 9pm, and there is a small cover at the door of $5.
Saturday, May 19 – Girls on Top at The Electric Pickle
Featuring music from Michelle Leshem, Feph, and several special guests, this free event highlighting Miami’s top female DJ’s will be taking over the El Bolero Room at the Electric Pickle this Saturday. Though free, it is a ticketed event, so be sure to go to eventbrite and grab one up.
Saturday, May 19th – The Rhythm Foundation 30th anniversary fundraiser at The Fillmore
This year’s event features a unique and bold indie rock performance by New York based pianist Marco Benevento and his band. Ticket sales will help support the Rhythm Foundation’s contribution to Miami’s vibrant music culture. There also will be complementary drinks, bites, and an auction.
Saturday, May 19th – Yves Tumor at The Ground
To round off the list, we’ve got Yves Tumor at The Ground. Brace yourself, as enigmatic, electro-experimental artist Yves Tumor will be performing at The Ground. Performance art meets profound musical curiosity with this artist, and their shows are always a sight to behold. Tickets are available on ticketfly, and range from $10-$20.
