A more suitable and accurate name for Nick Campbell Destroys could be Nick Campbell Reinvents or Nick Campbell Transmutes, neither of them roll off the tongue any better, but they do better describe his musical quest, as he purposefully transgresses genres while keeping the spirit of Jazz alive in order to bring it to the palate and realities of the current generation.

Nick Campbell spent most of his youth in deep pursuit of musical studies: What makes a sound Good? What makes a note powerful? It was traditional Jazz that fueled his passion, while the eclectic and rich music screen of Los Angeles gave that Passion an eye-opening context in which to thrive in every direction. His upcoming debut album, “Art” is described as a ” dynamic amalgam of Industrial Jazz-Funk music; a diverse fusion of influences spanning Frank Zappa, Nine Inch Nails, Vulfpeck and Mononeon.”

To further pique your interest, Nick Campbell Destroys has recently released his juiciest single to date, “Sunday”, a track that touches on themes of social anxiety or some form of isolation where you feel a bit overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the weekday, yearning for a quiet lazy Sunday with few people around to disturb your vibe. The song was written alongside Nick’s friend, the Singer-Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Theo Katzman who also provided vocals for the recording.

Of the song itself, Nick Campbell Destroys had this to say:

“The idea for the song was born during a writing session I had on a Sunday afternoon with Theo Katzman at my first apartment in 2015. At a break at a nearby café I made a quick aside about how I loved going outside on Sundays because “no one is anywhere and everything is free.” Even though I was just talking about street parking, Theo said he thought that sounded like a really good hook for a song. I agreed with him and two days later we wrote the entire thing.”

A wildly inspired and eclectic musical character on his own, Nick has worked as live bassist for a number of traditional Jazz bands and even acts such as Pomplamoose, Scary Pockets, Charlie Puth, Vulfpeck, Meghan Trainor, Raquel Rodriguez, Nigel Hall, Josh Smith, Kirk Fletcher, Michael Mayo and Moonchild (to name a few). He has also composed music for Shrek Is Love and Bear Attack.
