The Chilean rock band Aisles has just released their first unpublished song in five years entitled: “Fast”, which was released through Presagio Records on Friday, June 4, on all digital platforms. The song is a preview of the group's new studio album, which will be released during the second half of 2021.
The frenetic song of the Santiago sextet was influenced by the power of bands like Foo Fighters and Muse, but also has the unmistakable exploratory touch of Aisles. “The song and the lyrics are inspired by so much in my personal life, with a very tough break up; the departure of Sebastián, my brother, from the band, and also in the global social crisis that has a lot of this feeling like the end of a cycle “-explains Germán Vergara, composer, and guitarist of the group- “it is about following a purpose with all the strength that you have left.” That feeling was translated into a fast-paced vibe, with intense guitar riffs.
“Fast” is also the first unreleased song with the new Aisles vocalist, Israel Gil, after the departure of Sebastián Vergara. "Israel gave ‘Fast’ the power it needed because he has a very broad register and his performance was shocking," says Vergara. The track was recorded at Estudio del Sur, produced by Angelo Marini, Germán Vergara, and mastered by American engineer Randy Merrill (Muse, Paul McCartney, Beck, Liam Gallagher).
The video, meanwhile, was made by Lucy Animation Studio, from Colombia, and its script was written by Chilean novelist Francisco Ortega and guitarist Germán Vergara. “I've been watching anime like Ghost In The Shell, Devilman Crybaby, and Akira, they're all set in an apocalyptic context. I found that there were many similarities between the fiction of these stories and the reality that Chile and the world are experiencing, we wanted to convey this analogy with a video that follows the cyberpunk aesthetic.” says the band's leader.
The group, formed by Germán Vergara, Israel Gil (vocalist), Rodrigo Sepúlveda (guitar), Juan Pablo Gaete (keyboard), Felipe Candia (drums), and Daniel Concha (bass), is finishing their fifth studio album, which will be released during the second half of 2021. In this new album, they leave behind the concept and sound of “Hawaii” (2016) to open up to a more direct and powerful sound marked by bands like Porcupine Tree, Rush, and Animals As Leaders. "We have done a very exhaustive job, we put the pressure on to renew ourselves and to change the paradigm," says the producer and guitarist.
