CHEIQ is a Brooklyn-based pop artist who holds no punches and packs each and every one of them with more attitude and uniqueness than you’ll know what to do with. Her sound and image are perfectly aligned as an amalgam of rambunctious theatrics, colorful spectacle, and earnest storytelling. CHEIQ, a passionate artist and performer since age seven, found inspiration in Broadway's Lion King, seeing characters resembling her. From school performances to theater programs in NYC, she honed her acting, singing, and dancing skills.
Studying physical theater at Dell'Arte International in California, she delved into acrobatics and circus arts, discovering her natural talent. Embracing clowning and various circus disciplines post-graduation, CHEIQ blended her athletic prowess with theatrical flair. Performing nationwide in musicals and cabarets, she yearned for deeper artistic fulfillment. Her songwriting journey began after watching a music competition, sparking new creative visions for captivating music videos and live performances.
CHEIQ's newest release, "Hot Bitch” (Remix) features Drag Race star LaLa Ri (whom CHEIQ is a fan of). The track is a bold declaration of self-belief and empowerment. She emphasizes the importance of nurturing a positive mindset for a fulfilling and successful life, highlighting the mantra that self-love is paramount above all else. With lyrics like "I'm hot / I'm rich / I'm that song / That you never skip," CHEIQ exudes confidence and self-assurance, operating at a level where miracles become a reality.
CHEIQ's visual concept for the music video takes a creative twist by reimagining historical as well as fictional/mythical female figures who were beheaded, giving them empowered roles, effectively turning their stories “on their heads'. Through this visual narrative, the artist celebrates women taking charge of their own destinies, embracing their power, and shaping their futures with resilience and determination.
