Pop songwriter and producer Drew Louis is making waves once again in the Drag Race fandom, having crafted not one but three standout tracks for the premiere of the 17th season of RuPaul’s landmark show.
Drew Louis has made a name for himself in the music industry, writing and producing for a diverse array of artists, including Jillian Rossi and Yena. His work extends to several Drag Race contestants, having executive produced Trinity the Tuck’s last two albums and penned singles for Kylie Sonique Love. His earlier collaboration with Amanda Tori Meating on “My Kitty” debuted on Season 16, solidifying his role in the Drag Race music scene.
Drew’s creative process involves capturing each queen’s unique personality and talent in just one minute of music. “Each queen needed a song to showcase their talent and their personality, all in one minute. Not too easy! [laughs]. But getting to play in different genres and weave their energies was extremely fun, and it’s so beautiful knowing you’ve contributed a small piece to this amazing journey they’re on.”
“LA LECHE” (The Milk) by Jewels Sparkles is a luxurious by-the-book pop banger. With self-assured lines like "la más peligrosa" (the most dangerous), the song highlights bold yassitude and femme sensuality, all delivered in a lighthearted, catchy manner. Ultimately, it serves as an anthem of playful confidence, encouraging listeners to embrace their allure while enjoying the vibrant imagery.
"Say Yeehaw" by Sam Star is a lively anthem celebrating Southern charm and confidence. With a playful vibe, the singer compares riding her horse to driving a sports car, showcasing her unique flair that others can't replicate. The chorus invites everyone to shout "yeehaw," creating a sense of community among queens like her. Filled with catchy dance breaks and upbeat energy, the song highlights her journey from humble beginnings to Hollywood stardom while staying true to herself.
Finally, the last song to be featured, "She's Giving" by Lexi Love, is a sassy anthem that oozes confidence and flair. Right from the start, Lexi declares herself the main event, setting a playful and vibrant mood that’s hard to resist. The cheeky interlude playfully suggests that bigger hoops equal more fun, adding a dash of humor to the mix.
With his fresh tracks lighting up the stage, Drew Louis is undoubtedly a key player in this season’s musical landscape. Keep an ear out for his contributions, as the queens bring their charisma and talent to the forefront!
