Rock is right up my alley. Blues-infused rock is not something I usually listen to, but I am more than welcome to try new things. As a native of New York City nightclubs and a Texas-raised bluesman, Cooke brings fresh life to a city hailed as the blues capital of the world. Each member of the Austin-based trio hails from a different part of the world. They, however, have a relentless work ethic along with soulful swagger that produces a fiery blues-rock sound. Throughout the city and beyond, the soulful blues-rockers bring the heat to bars and dimly lit corners. In central Texas, the three musicians have captivated audiences, drawing comparisons to Gary Clark Jr and Chris Stapleton.
Who Gon' Save Me is their latest single and I'm gonna be honest, it completely blew me away. What a freaking amazing song. It might be easy to throw a few compliments, but from the bottom of my heart, I can't say enough good things about Cook. Robbie's deep voice had me right from the start. Dean Perry's bass work and Arturs Reirs in the drums are also to be commended. This guy is a sight for sore eyes in a sea of monotony, and I can't believe it's not more popular. Channeling the spirit of bands like John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers, Ten Years After, and The Allman Brothers Band. Their modern take on blues rock is just what the music scene needs now. The combination of these three musicians is a force to be reckoned with. Robbie's voice is unique and captivating, while Dean and Arturs lay down some seriously groovy beats.
Robbie gives us a bit of an insight into the meaning of the song: "This song is about being the underdog, a position I’ve held most my life. A hard work ethic is ingrained in me because, without it, I wouldn’t be where I am today."
It's no wonder why I'm already a fan. They've already had success in the local music scene, but they deserve much more recognition. I'm sure that if more people heard their music, they'd be a household name in no time. With a bit of luck, this band could be the next big thing.
I also took the time to watch some of their concerts. If you already appreciate their studio recordings, then you will be blown away by how amazing they are in front of a live audience. Their energy and talent when performing are truly remarkable. The trio surely knows how to deliver a stunning performance. It's almost like the music they create is alive, and you can feel the passion in every single chord. The audience was captivated and I'm sure they left the show with memories that will last a lifetime. I have never seen a band that could play with such precision and emotion. They were in perfect harmony and the energy in the room was palpable. It was truly an amazing experience. The trio's performance was not only impeccable but also incredibly moving; it was evident that the music was very much coming alive and that everyone in the audience was deeply connected to it. Every single chord held a powerful emotion that reverberated throughout the room and touched everyone's hearts. I have never seen a band that was so in sync and passionate about their music. It was a truly magical experience.
I like pleasant surprises and Cooke was one of them. I might sound like a broken record, but it's impossible not to recommend these guys enough! I will definitely keep an eye out for them. I'm looking forward to what they come up with next. They have a lot of potential and I'm excited to see what they do with it. I'm sure they'll keep delivering great music!
