“Different” is the latest danceable pop hit from the Los Angeles-based musician, Highschool Jacob. The song evokes all the possibilities and doubts from the different maybes of a failed relationship by using well-thought-out and effective lyrics and a catchy and upbeat tune. According to the author, “Different” does not pretend to be just another breakup song.
Through its three minutes the continuous back and forth evidences the typical anxiety and confusion behind leaving a problematic relationship. “Over and over I say it's your fault”, “But I'm so over so over you” sings the second verse to clarify the clear fragmentation of the relationship.
