From Retro to Futuristic: Valentina Moretti’s “tú y yo”

Valentina Moretti, an emerging DJ and producer from Mexico, is revolutionizing the electronic music scene with her innovative sound and powerful storytelling. Her latest single, “tú y yo,” is a futuristic track that combines retro influences with a modern mood, helping to consolidate her position as a pioneer in the genre.

“Tú y yo” is a journey, narrated by a futuristic version of Valentina to her past self, in which she delves into the foundations of self-discovery, resilience, and the beauty of embracing the true self. The song invites one to overcome fears, doubts, and social constructs through the power of self-love.

“I found a liquid ooze that opened a portal to the future. I traveled through it and I brought back a sonic experience from 2084 that was futuristic yet retro. I then realized that it was a song that my future self, embodied in a cyber organism, wrote to its creator,” she said.

From her first steps in music, Valentina Moretti decided not only to listen but to engage in dialogue with sound. Inspired by titans like Kraftwerk, she found in the synthesizers and drum machines of the 80s her portal to a universe of her own. Mythic tools like the Jupiter 8, the Juno 106, and the original Linndrum not only define her style but are complicit in the construction of the song.

In “tú y yo” Valentina goes beyond the beats to weave a story about humanity and transformation. A cybernetic organism experiences the sweet vertigo of feeling for the first time what it is to be human, while the experience becomes a metaphor for the artist’s own journey. This narrative, as intimate as it is futuristic, vibrates in tune with the work of visionaries like ARCA and SOPHIE, exploring the coexistence of the diverse and the universal.

In musical terms, “tú y yo” is a musical kaleidoscope that absorbs diverse influences such as echoes of synth-wave, evoking the pioneering spirit of Kraftwerk, shines of eighties synth pop in the style of Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys, and sharp and modern textures, in the line of Kavinsky and Daft Punk.

If you are looking for a sound that breaks patterns while connecting with the soul, this track is a must. Valentina Moretti is sculpting a new sonic ocean in which we can all dive.
