How did growing up in the entertainment industry shape your career aspirations?
Hi! Thank you so much for having me! When I was growing up, I knew that acting was what I wanted to do long before I began to pursue it professionally. Growing up around the entertainment industry gave me a wide variety of career examples not just with acting and singing, but also directing, producing, and writing as well. I had a time when I thought I wanted to be a director! And then I was like nope, I’m definitely more of an in front of the camera type of girl!
What inspired the transition from acting to music? How do you balance these two creative outlets?
Acting was my first passion, but I always had a love for music, It just took me a while to realize that it’s possible to have a career path within the music industry as well as acting. I balance both acting and music by expressing myself honestly throughout my acting and songwriting.
How did your experience on "The Kids Table" contribute to your personal and professional growth?
The “Kids Table” was the first project I did. My experience working on the set contributed to my personal growth by teaching me the importance of little things that are actually so important in life, such as being on time, following directions, and being creative. I also learned the importance of friendship on this set because I met two of my best friends while working on this project! My experience contributed to my professional growth by showing me how crucial it is to learn all aspects of the industry, not just acting, but directing, writing, and producing as well!
Your music features a pop-rock angst sound. Who are your biggest musical influences, and how do they shape your style?
My biggest musical influences are Avril Lavigne, Kesha, and Miley Cyrus. Avril Lavigne has such a unique pop-rock style and her listeners love her for that. Both Miley Cyrus and Kesha make great pop music that people can jam to no matter what emotion they’re feeling. I’ve learned from these artists to pour your heart and soul into lyrics because lyrics are what make or break a song.
Tell us about the creative process behind your last release, "Never Met." What inspired the pop/emo/rock blend?
Never Met was such a fun song to work on. I was about a year and a half out of a breakup and my ex told me that they “never loved me”. My immediate reaction, although I didn’t say this to their face was “I wish we never met”. I brainstormed and thought, “What if I made a song about this?” So that’s exactly what I did! I sat down with my co-writer and we got to work. My vibe when it comes to my music style is definitely pop/rock, and I knew that was the perfect style for this song.
What advice do you have for maintaining authenticity in an industry that often pressures individuals to conform?
My best advice is to just be yourself no matter what. We see so many individuals in our everyday lives and in the entertainment industry, form to the standards of society. What makes someone succeed is individuality and uniqueness.
How do you manage your time and prioritize your projects across acting, singing, and as an influencer?
I’m so bad at time management. This is definitely something I’ve always struggled with, but work hard on it every day. I manage my time across all my platforms when it comes to acting, singing, and influencing by doing it all, not just focusing on one. In one day, I’ll submit projects on Casting Networks (a website for actors!), I’ll write a song, and post on Instagram and TikTok.
Can you give us a hint about what we can expect from you in the future?
In the next few months, I’ll be releasing two new singles I’m currently working on. Both songs have a completely different vibe than the style of music I’ve released in the past. I’m super excited for my listeners to hear them! And, when it comes to acting, I’m hoping to be in more projects in the upcoming year.
