Introspective and Provocative: RYTERBAND Dives Deep Into Social Commentary With “Lies”

Los Angeles producer and songwriter RYTERBAND has been quite busy lately, releasing a multitude of songs and videos each one offering a singular perspective. Effortlessly crafting minimalist acoustic ballads and energetic house beats with over seven million streams he's a musical powerhouse.

RYTERBAND's extraordinary musical style and innovative approach to production have catapulted him into the spotlight. He has collaborated with prominent electronic producers such as Jody Wisternoff, Indian Wells, and Boxer. These collaborations have resulted in a series of captivating remixes that prove his indispensable sound. His work extends beyond the realm of music, with credits in over 50 TV shows and films, including popular hits like Euphoria, Brooklyn 99, and The Umbrella Academy. His keen understanding of the emotional nuances within a scene allows him to craft soundscapes that heighten the overall impact of the visual medium. Not solely influenced by the world of entertainment. His decade-long meditation practice has deeply shaped his approach to music. This spiritual connection is evident in the introspective and thought-provoking nature of his compositions. RYTERBAND's music serves as a conduit for exploring complex emotions and delving into the depths of the human experience.

Now he's releasing what in my opinion is his most breathtaking work to date:

"Lies" serves as a commentary on the internet age and the profound impact technology has on our lives. In an era where social media dominates our interactions, it sheds light on the way technology has fueled our separation from one another. Exploring concepts such as customized realities, artificial intelligence, and the addictive nature of our online existence. Delving deep into social commentary. He questions the trade-offs we make in pursuit of virtual connection, highlighting the potential loss of genuine human interaction. The song is the definitive expression of the RYTERBAND sound. Electro-pop in its purest form. His voice remains the standout of the song, provocative but emanating almost a feeling of vulnerability. The rhythm takes us into a world where individuals are consumed by their virtual personas, living in a constant state of disconnection from their true selves and those around them. A true work of art is being displayed here. Speaking about the video itself, the immersive visuals and striking imagery serve as a wake-up call, urging us to reflect on our own relationship with technology and the potential consequences of our increasingly digital lives.

"In the fall of 2017, I was lying in bed with a lover when it occurred to me that in our nine months together, we had never really relied on each other, we hadn't met each other's friends, we barely ever met outside of the bedroom. We had agreed on a strange equilibrium: it was safer to stay together without true intimacy than to seek something more and risk being alone. This is what ‘Lies’ is about." RYTERBAND explains and continues, "For the video that accompanies the track, I reimagined “Lies” as the story of a lonely man who falls in love with a camgirl. For her, this is just a job and not a happy one. For him, it’s an unreliable lifeline, simulating connection while he continues to avoid real connection. As his fantasies become more and more outlandish, she becomes more numb. They both descend deeper into loneliness, wishing for something that neither one is actually seeking."

RYTERBAND continues to push the limits of conventional genres, immersing his songs with gripping themes. His ability to seamlessly meld various styles is what sets him apart. We're eagerly anticipating the release of his second EP, "Echoes." Building on the success of his previous work, it features remixes and music videos that we're yet to see but promise to be an audiovisual experience like no other. "Echoes" is scheduled for release later this year. I can hardly wait to give it a try!
