From the neon-lit stages of LA and NYC to the hallowed halls of the Vatican, where he once performed for the Pope, JD Hinton has etched an utterly unique path through the music industry. This versatile artist has seamlessly transitioned from his early days as a late-night disc jockey to landing acclaimed acting roles in beloved TV shows like "Mork & Mindy," "The Morning Show," and "Jane the Virgin" – all while honing his formidable songwriting talents.

Now, JD Hinton is set to unveil his latest creative triumph: the five-track EP "Five Smooth Stones." A collaboration with renowned producer Justin Glasco, this collection serves as the fifth entry in Hinton's growing discography, each song a polished sonic "stone" inspired by the biblical tale of David and Goliath. Just as the young David used his cunning and skill to topple the giant Goliath, Hinton wields his music as a weapon to confront life's biggest challenges.

The journey begins with "Ready to Begin," a piano-driven ballad that sets the emotional tone. Hinton's lyrics capture the delicate anticipation of a heart poised to love again, the melodies swelling and fading like the ebb and flow of vulnerability. Is the giant he’s slaying loneliness and heart-ache alone? We’ll see!

"Beautiful Woman" flips the script around a bit with a sexy honky-tonk groove. JD Hinton’s voice is smooth and sultry, is like the shiny well-polished wooden surfaces of the vintage night club. The narrative of his vocals is so intent on conjuring up before and around us.

Right up next is "When You Dance". A Blues-y outlaw-ish ballad that you could have heard right out of the lips of The Highwaymen back in the day, all filled with a mix of road-weary cynicism and good ‘ol boy sentimentality. Quite simply brilliant, and my personal 2nd favorite song in the EP

Now, "Too Damn Good" is exactly what it says on the tin. A strange mix of Lemmy Kilmister and Horton Heat. Outlaw desert rock with imposing vocals and a terrifying reverberating guitar that just won’t let up. My definite favorite of the lot! True rock & roll spirit!

To close up the ballad-heavy EP is, "Fall In My Arms," a sincere revaluation of a cold trip ending in the realization that the true yearning driving this journey was a meaningful love -the warmth of a true connection.

Through these five distinct sonic vignettes, JD Hinton emerges as a singular artist, defying convention and sculpting cinematic anthems that transcend the boundaries of genre. "Five Smooth Stones" stands as a bold and incisive offering, a testament to JD Hinton's mastery of storytelling and his unwavering commitment to crafting music that resonates on a profound, emotional level.

After enchanting crowds from coast to coast and earning a blessing from the Pope himself, there's no doubt that JD Hinton has a few more smooth stones left in his artistic sling. With "Five Smooth Stones," he has crafted a work of singular vision and unparalleled artistry, a soulful sonic tapestry that transcends the boundaries of genre and leaves an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all who encounter it.
