How many times we have repented to say or do something? How many times we have overreacted upon the silliest of reasons? That’s the way some of us pass life throughout time, not taking into account someone else’s feelings, not even not our own.
Serinity, an up-and-coming female singer-songwriter from Sacramento, California, found herself deeply inspired to pen her latest song, "The Way I Love You."
The emotional ballad was born out of Serinity's own struggles with heartbreak and the realization that she had lost a great love. As she reflected on the intense pain and constant turmoil she experienced during her past relationship, Serinity came to regret ending it for what now seemed like trivial reasons. It wasn't until after the fact that she fully comprehended the value of what she had let slip away. Sadly, by then it was too late as her significant other had moved on and found love with someone else. Through her poignant lyrics and emotive vocals in "The Way I Love You," Serinity pours out her soulful lament for the one who got away. She considers herself a woman of not have many regrets in her life, but that relationship in particular was definitely one of them.
Holding someone's hand when starting a relationship and then voluntarily letting go has a very severe emotional weight. It is realizing that in most cases, we do not know what we have until we lose it. You can’t change the past so it is mandatory to move forward.
She feels deeply inspired by Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette, identifying herself with the way fellow colleagues express and feel about love, life, loss, fear, and regret. She relies on her powerful lyrics to get encouragement from them.
Musically, The Way I Love You is an indie alternative pop song full of melancholy and sorrow. The single is serene and peaceful with a clear reference to tragic romance influenced by dream pop. Her unique angelic and brittle voice is a privilege to listen to. “Cried alone every day and night / Waiting to hear your voice one last time” She stated in her song. Have you ever cried so hard you fell asleep alongside your tears and pain? I know I have, and she knows you have. The Way I Love You is a distinctive piece with a lot of love energy attached to it and a clear message that sometimes timing has never been on our side when we have to say goodbye.
"You Used Me", released last May, was her previous single also full of ache and sadness. A living proof that most of the time, LOVE HURTS. So, I invite you to hold Serinity’s hand along her journey, I bet she will understand how you feel. From time to time, we just have to let things go in order to truly live again.
