Limit State's "Eat Their Young": A Scathing Critique of the Past Generation

Limit State, an LA-based band, features singer/composer Damen Easton, guitarist Dave Wolfberg, bassist Nicolas Dinucci, and drummer Till Richter. Combining elements of classic rock, grunge, metal, and post-punk/indie, their dynamic sound promises to captivate rock fans of all kinds.

The story behind the band is intriguing. Back in 2020, Damen and Dave released their first project, "The Dark Corners," followed by "The Stars" in 2023. While both projects were great, Damen felt they didn't truly represent his vision. "I’m gonna write something where you can really shred," he said. That's when Nicolas and Till joined them, finally bringing Limit State to life.

Combine the timeless rock vibe of Creedence Clearwater Revival with the raw energy of AC/DC, and you get Limit State's powerful new track, "Eat Their Young." This song has everything a great rock tune should have: great guitar work, powerful drums, and vocals that would make Mick Jagger proud.

The production quality is nothing short of impressive, with a crisp, polished sound that highlights each instrument's contribution. The heavy metal influences are evident in the powerful, driving riffs and the thunderous rhythm section, creating an intense, energetic atmosphere. The meticulous attention to detail in the mixing and mastering ensures that every note and nuance is delivered with maximum impact. Near the end of the song, we're treated to an incredible guitar solo by Dave Wolfberg displaying his talent and incredible skills as a guitarist.

Limit State categorizes "Eat Their Young" as doom blues, a style that blends doom metal with blues rock. This genre captures the hardships faced by young people striving to succeed. It reflects the pain of being criticized by older generations who benefited from past economic prosperity, a time unlikely to return. It also conveys the desperation of the young, who must seek favor from established powers to achieve a mere sliver of their wealth and stability. In the band's own words, "This song might be summarized as a nightmarish ode to the baby boomer generation."
