No Soap Radio is a five-piece outfit out of old New Jersey who are reinvigorating emo/indie sounds with a mixture of “edgy nostalgia” and upbeat live-wire attitude, bent on creating a unique and compelling listening experience that touches upon bittersweet emotional extremes, evoking a wide range of emotions through their songs that will have you flowing from one state to the next seamlessly and without warning.
No Soap Radio is a band that likes to eschew the norm. They're not interested in following trends or playing it safe. Instead, they have an uncanny ability to blend different genres and create something entirely new but undoubtedly familiar to the 00s and 10s. Fresh and bold, but not at all unfamiliar.
NSR’s newest audiovisual outing is titled “Restless”, a song and video double whammy that is all about transitional periods in our lives, specifically that awkward and frightening bit between adolescence and adulthood, which seems crazier to experience now more than ever. The project draws from both real-life experiences and the unconscious world of dreams and nightmares, which reveal things deeply hidden in our psyche that we might not be too comfortable with or too keen to confront.
Describing the video, director Alex Aronson had this to say:
“The concept is inspired by nightmares and real experiences from that awkward gap between adolescence and adulthood. Dreams will often tell you things about yourself that you’re too afraid to realize or admit. There’s strong imagery in the lyrics, so the initial idea came naturally. We shot the video with a tight-knit crew of friends, in the woods we grew up playing in. It felt like summer camp on set, and looking back now it feels like an homage to those nights we spent in the woods.”
