Who Said Classical Music and Rock Don’t Blend? Emily v Is Here to Prove Naysayers Wrong

L.A. Based rock 'n' roll violinist, Emily V, is a remarkable musician who has taken the world by surprise with her unique style and electrifying performances. With her exceptional talent and unconventional approach, Emily stands out as one of the most eccentric and exciting violinists of our time. Her musical journey began with a strong foundation. She honed her skills, by studying Classical music, Theory and Composition, and World Percussion music, specifically African and Brazilian styles, at Cal State Long Beach. This diverse musical background has enabled her to bring a fresh and dynamic perspective to her performances. Emily has toured with the iconic, world-renowned punk band The Adicts and has performed with Walter Trout (The Walter Trout Band), John Mayall (Canned Heat), Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real, Travis Warren (Blind Melon), Todd Wolf (Beth Hart), Jimmy Paxson (Stevie Nicks), Mike Malinin (Goo Goo Dolls). While touring with other artists, she continues to perform at local venues in her hometown.

Emily V surely is “Not Your Typical Violinist”. What sets her apart is her ability to create an exhilarating solo experience by looping her instruments. Through this innovative technique, she layers different musical elements, building a rich and immersive sound that is both captivating and awe-inspiring. Her mastery of looping allows her to create intricate compositions on the spot, effortlessly blending genres and styles to build an extraordinary fusion of rock 'n' roll and classical music. When Emily takes the stage, she creates a rock 'n' roll drama that unfolds before her audience. Her performances are characterized by high energy, intense passion, and a magnetic stage presence. With every stroke of her bow, she simply mesmerizes the crowd, taking them on a musical experience filled with surprises and excitement. Her ability to seamlessly blend classical violin techniques with the raw power and energy of rock 'n' roll sets her apart from traditional violinists. Her performances are electrifying, leaving anyone who listens spellbound and craving more. Whether she's performing in intimate venues or on larger stages, her talent shines through, captivating and leaving a unique impression that will last a lifetime.

Now she's releasing one of the most interesting songs I've heard this year. Originally made by progressive metal band Tool led by the eccentric vocalist Maynard James "Sober" initially released in 1993 is one of the most unique songs Tool has produced.

Now we have the opportunity to hear Emily's unique take on this iconic tune. Featuring weeping violin, percussive guitars, and power-driven drums, her rendition is provocative and alluring. As the song's lyrics are depicted in the music video through stunning performance shots and gut-wrenching imagery, the video gives you a sense of what it feels like to be captivated by your own addictions. In terms of visuals, it is exciting to watch Emily's intricate looping unfold the live tracks in a creative and exciting manner. Combined with the crumpled, duct tape-bound victim fighting for life, her passion becomes the yin to the yang. "What is real? No one can save you but yourself. You have to keep getting up and fighting for your own life because nobody else will. Do you choose to be defeated or do you choose to break the bonds that suffocate you?" she describes.

Emily V was a pleasant surprise. Her unconventional approach, skillful technique, and remarkable stage presence make her one of the most unique, eccentric, and exciting musicians I've recently had the pleasure to listen to. Through her performances, she pushes the boundaries of what is possible with the violin, adding it to a rock 'n' roll experience that is truly unforgettable. I'm keeping a close eye on her and you should too.
