Wyn & the White Light’ Released “Statue”: An Anthem to Those Who Have Survived Medical Trauma

Wyn & the White Light, along with the haunting vocals and violin of Josh Knowles, deliver a fresh experience with their latest track “Statue.” With lyrics written by Wyn Doran, the lead singer and songwriter, “Statue” dives deep into the realm of introspection, capturing the essence of a profound and transformative personal journey.

The song begins with a visceral portrait of inner turmoil, as Doran struggles with the inability to articulate thoughts and feelings, evoking the feeling of being trapped inside her own mind. The image of being a "statue" conveys a sense of immobility and disconnection from the world, a disturbing representation of the struggle to communicate amidst inner chaos.

Slipping into a plane where no one can wake you Now you're just another statue I wave to In a wave of sirens rushing to safety Will this be the bed that eviscerates me?

Doran's revelation about the inspiration behind "Statue" makes a significant contribution to the understanding of the subject, as it becomes clear that this is more than just a song, but a cathartic expression of personal healing.

"‘Statue’ is the ethereal translation of a stroke I had where I lost the ability to move or speak while my mind was still intact. I never told anyone about what I faced, until a writing session with my friend Josh Knowles (who features on vocals and violin in Statue). Writing with Josh gave me a safe space to process that mind/body separation. The goal in the studio was to capture the energy of an ‘anesthesia dream,’ and what we made became medicine for a wounded, younger part of me.", Wyn Doran, lead singer/songwriter of Wyn & the White Light said.

Wyn & the White Light, led by the acclaimed 'Female Performer of the Year' nominee Wyn Doran, is a pomegranate-infused haunted-soul-rock band making waves in the New England music scene. She has expanded her musical journey by forming the White Light alongside Lucia Jean and Heidi Tierney. The band's collective experience with medical trauma has served as a catalyst for their music, infusing it with a profound message of resilience and empowerment in the face of adversity. Drawing from their own encounters with mortality, they channel themes of chronic illness and the transformative power of strength into their music.

As they gear up for the release of their album, Wyn & the White Light have been teasing audiences with singles that offer glimpses into the emotional depth and sonic richness of their upcoming work. “Statue” transcends mere music and serves as a form of medicine for both artists and listeners.
