However, fast-forwarding to present day there are very few bands still active, and many consider the genre dead in the water. Certified bombshell deegie is here to let you know pop punk ain’t dead yet, but in fact, is still going strong! She’s excited to release her latest single “Go Be With Becca (Zach)” as a part of her upcoming EP “EXES,” which will delve into her past relationships with various ex-boyfriends. This particular song sheds light on the toxic nature of a cheating ex who tried to sabotage her but ultimately got what he deserved in the end.

“Go Be With Becca (Zach)” is a powerful track that showcases deegie’s signature blend of banger melodies, raw energetic riffs, and fierce drums. Every single ingredient is present here for an incredible pop-punk song. The track is an emotional rollercoaster as she revisits the betrayal and heartbreak she experienced at the hands of her cheating ex. “I had a weird feeling about Zach from the start, but I ignored the signs until a stranger on the Internet messaged me out of the blue to tell me he was cheating on me with his ex, Becca,” deegie shares. 

With lyrics like “Get off your knees, it’s gross to beg / The pity party’s over, our relationship is dead,” she unapologetically confronts her former lover, urging him to give up on his attempts to reconcile. There’s something impactful about a woman being strong and standing for herself, not taking any bullshit from anyone, that makes people uncomfortable, and her main goal is to put the spotlight on those issues.

deegie could be Avril Lavigne’s long-lost younger sister, a pop-punk princess who doesn’t care what anyone thinks and is here to have some fun.
