Anna Linnea Södahl also known as Nea has an uncanny ability to tell unique stories using her music. As a renowned pop songwriter, Nea has crafted chart-topping hits for notable names such as Zara Larsson and Tove Styrke. However, her own story remained untold until 2019 when she finally stepped into the spotlight with her debut solo single, "Some Say." The single was a massive hit worldwide being streamed non-stop. “I’ve written hundreds, maybe thousands, of songs about romantic love, but when I had a falling out with one of my best friends, I realized there are so many angles of love that are not spoken about as much,” she says.
"YES" strongly reminds me of the Canadian powerhouse Alanis Morissette. Yes friends, we have reached my obligatory Alanis reference! Nea has created a playful rhythm and I think it is safe to say this one is my favorite. So what's next? Ah right! In "Take It As a Man" we get a terrible story of abuse and how Nea managed to overcome it. I bet many will feel represented by this one. “If nobody sees what’s going on/I wonder did it even happen?” This song is a reminder that no matter what life throws at us, we can always find a way to fight back. It's a reminder that we don't have to accept what comes our way, that we can instead choose to take control of our lives and fight for what we believe in.
