Sometimes the title says it all, and I think I kinda nailed this one. Chicago’s Outrun The Sunlight crafted a beautiful piece with “Red Bird” and, therefore, it’s fitting that the video that goes with it is as enchanting and riveting as it is creative and visually appealing. The track (instrumental post-metal, something the Chicago area does very well in) is melodic, trance-inducing and just heavy enough to keep you grounded.
Outrun The Sunlight has been crafting powerful and emotional songs since 2011. The passion project of guitarist Austin Peters and Cody McCartis now a full fledged entity of its own, merging post-rock, metal and other influences to create music that needs no words. If you like Russian Circles, Pelican or Caspian, this band will definitely make your roster of things you’re glad you’ve found.
“Red Bird” is a song about love and change. The melody was inspired by the quiet desolation that can occur when it snows in Chicago, how we forget the meaningful things right in front of us.
