What could be better than indie artists collaborating on something? When it comes to breaking up the monotony of mainstream circles and bringing something truly passionate to the table, you have to look at the work of bands like Ships Have Sailed and singer/songwriters like Abby Posner, all of whom have come together to do a double-whammy collab in a song titled “Get Loud” which today has a new acoustic version.

The lyrics of “Get Loud” convey a message of resilience and determination. The imagery of someone knocking at the front door and leaving the speaker with ‘less than before’ is an unequivocal sign that the track is locked and loaded with a clear intention: When injustice and abuses abound, you must make a stand before they take it all away.

With powerful lines like “No middle ground is gonna win the fight” the song encourages people to get politically involved in defending their beliefs and interests, while “All the battles that we lost will bring the grit to win it all” reflects in acquiring a gritty mindset to cherish in the struggle and use even defeats as fuel to keep fighting the good fight in spite of the adversities.

Posner chimes in on the track: “ We wrote this song during a very raw and vulnerable time, and we were feeling angry, and frustrated. We wanted to write a song that embodied all of these complex emotions. A song that felt like a movement. When you take rights away from human beings…it gets loud, and I hope this song motivates people to get even louder.”

This acoustic rendition of ´Get Loud´ can perhaps be said to be more impactful due to the stronger and bolder blues-rock vibes, while simultaneously giving a nod to classic “protest” songs which fueled decades of activism in previous eras. This powerhouse collaboration has birthed a musical gem that boldly and loudly demands to be heard.
