A Kinda Spooky and Very Danceable Round-up for All Your Music Needs This Weekend!

Get ready for a weekend filled with spine-tingling beats and haunting rhythms! Whether you have a hard time letting go of the spooky season or if you’re looking to get November started on the right foot, we’ve carefully selected a nice mix of tracks you do not want to miss. From grungy anthems to ethereal techno, each song offers a unique listening experience that will keep you moving, whether you're out on the town or enjoying a cozy night in.

All Things Blue - "Did You Die?"

All Things Blue returns with a fresh preview of their upcoming sophomore album. “Did You Die?” is the kind of question you’re bound to be asking someone who dropped out off the face of the earth after love-bombing the hell outta you… not exactly a fun experience, but the song in all its jangly-grungy glory *is* quite a thrill.

This song befits the credit roll of a late 90s slasher flick, don’t you think?

Jesse Jo Stark - "i'm yours"

I don’t think any Halloween playlist in 2024 can afford to skip out on rock femme fatale Jesse Jo Stark, who is far more familiar with the term “Haunting” than any ghost hunter or exorcist will ever be. With “i’m yours,” Stark showcases her unique L.A. goth-Americana vibes from a nostalgic, synthtastic electro-goth-pop soundscape that lyrically delves into doomed romances and spooky obsessions.

Limage - "Spooky"

Rising artist Limage drops "Spooky," an alternative hip-hop anthem that embraces the darker side of self-empowerment. A completely fresh take that revels in all its tenebrous sounds for a truly Halloweenian experience.

With a low-key instrumental crafted by LosHendrix, the track invites listeners to confront their shadows rather than shy away. Limage declares, “Self-love is a powerful act of rebellion,” turning the notion of vulnerability into an empowering statement.

Robot Sunrise – "Take Me"

Previously known as one half of EDM duo Dreamfreak, Danny Klein’s solo project, Robot Sunrise, shows us why he’s been a fixture—if not a pillar—of the underground EDM scene in Los Angeles.

“Take Me” is pure ethereal techno delight. Groovy, but also highly introspective, evoking a futuristic sound at times, and a mystical at others.

Bryce Bowyn - "Wicked Wings"

DC-based electro-pop artist Bryce Bowyn celebrates liberation and authenticity in "Wicked Wings." The song is the perfect blend of light and dark elements, thriving off of its intense, compelling techno beat and the distorted, almost growling rock vocals that Bowyn puts so much power behind.

Let these “Wicked Wings” carry you away!

Boogie Lights - “RISE UP”

Now we’re stepping a bit further away from the spooky Halloween-ish stuff and taking advantage of the previous song’s momentum to introduce the bass-house anthem “RISE UP,” by Denver-based DJ-producer-multi-instrumentalist Boogie Lights.

The song, through its majestic danceable glory is a rallying anthem for us to realize that the change we want to see in the world is often a ball that we have to get rolling ourselves with whatever is within our reach. The track features an insane duet between vocalists DZIRAE GOLD and Deezy Le Phunk, providing even greater layers of style for us to explore.

Josie & The Uni Boys - 沒完沒了的完美*”

Josie Ho’s latest track, translated as “Eternal Perfection,” reflects on the pressures of societal expectations and the pursuit of unattainable ideals that, in some ways, still feel worth pursuing. With a blend of rock energy and introspective lyrics, she crafts a narrative that resonates with anyone grappling with the quest for perfection or mastery, particularly in art.

Stacy Citron - "Rotation"

Stacy Citron delivers a playful, unique pop banger with "Rotation," a cheeky take on the LA dating scene and the seemingly endless parade of… peculiar experiences it has to offer. This upbeat track doesn’t wallow in cynicism or nightmare stories; instead, it presents a much more light-hearted outlook, befitting Stacy’s signature humor and providing us with a nice break from some of the doom and gloom.

Ricky Montgomery - "Superfan"

With an amazing animated video, "Superfan," Ricky Montgomery takes a stand against the obsession with social media culture and the unhealthy feedback loop it’s had on both the industry and the fans/consumers. This independent release reflects his journey as an artist navigating the complexities of fame and authenticity. With heartfelt lyrics and a catchy melody, Montgomery reminds us of the importance of staying true to oneself amidst the noise of the digital age.

HIDDEN FORTRESS - "Electric Skeleton"

Last but not least, and perhaps tying back a bit with the Halloween theme (at least tangentially), HIDDEN FORTRESS’ Haunting synth-wave single "Electric Skeleton" invites us to ponder the greater mysteries of life and the cosmos with a genuine sense of curiosity -and perhaps a healthy touch of dread.

“Electric Skeleton” is an amazing offering for all synth lovers and nerds alike and it vibes oh-so-well with many of the tracks we’ve brought you here today, what do you think?

As we wrap up this eclectic round-up, let’s not forget the importance of authenticity and self-expression in music. From Bryce Bowyn’s liberating “Wicked Wings” to Ricky Montgomery’s critique of social media culture in “Superfan,” these artists remind us to stay true to ourselves amidst the noise. With a mix of compelling techno/pop and haunting melodies, this playlist promises to elevate your weekend vibes while keeping the spirit of Halloween alive for a tad longer.
