A Toast to Women Who Shape Culture: DORCAM and South Florida PBS Close Out Women’s Month with Celebration at CityPlace Doral

March is Women’s History Month—a time to reflect, uplift, and celebrate the creativity, resilience, and leadership of women across generations. In Miami, that celebration is reaching a crescendo. On Saturday, March 29, South Florida PBS and the Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM) will come together to host Marie Antoinette: Let Them Watch, a stylish evening dedicated not only to the queen behind the title, but to the many real-life women shaping Miami’s present and future.

While the event’s aesthetic nods to 18th-century opulence, the heart of the evening lies in something much more grounded: honoring the achievements of local women and spotlighting their impact on Miami’s cultural fabric. The evening opens at CityPlace Doral’s Central Plaza with live performances and a ceremony recognizing outstanding women leaders in the community—activists, artists, educators, and visionaries whose work is shaping South Florida today.

From there, the celebration continues just steps away at DORCAM, where the museum is currently hosting Women of Vision: Photography, It’s About Time. Curated by photographer and educator Mirta Gómez del Valle, the exhibition brings together 13 women photographers whose work explores themes of time, memory, and identity. Bold, introspective, and emotionally resonant, the show invites viewers to see the world through lenses sharpened by lived experience and artistic rigor. It’s a fitting centerpiece for an evening dedicated to honoring women’s creative contributions.

The VIP reception at DORCAM also promises an immersive cultural experience. French-inspired cuisine, a soprano performance from Florida Grand Opera, and music curated by The Miami Symphony Orchestra (MISO) set the stage for a night that blends history with contemporary celebration. Yes, there's Marie Antoinette, but there's also Carmen. There’s revolution, both past and present. And at the center of it all: women as cultural agents, storytellers, and change-makers.

This event is also the grand finale to Miami Women’s Month, an initiative co-created by Power2Voice, We Art Foundation, and DORCAM, that throughout March has spotlighted women through exhibitions, talks, performances, and community-building across the city. With every event, Miami Women’s Month has emphasized dialogue, representation, and empowerment—values that extend far beyond the calendar.

Whether you're coming for the music, the art, or simply to raise a glass in good company, Marie Antoinette: Let Them Watch PBS offers more than glamour. It offers space—space for honoring stories, for celebrating vision, and for making sure that women’s contributions remain not only seen, but truly recognized.
