Bella Stine’s latest release, "click or crash," is an odyssey of melancholy turned into a song, that continues the style from Stine’s previous single “Pale Flame” in which she shows a soft timbre of voice to explore themes of self-doubt, vulnerability, love, breakups and the constant battle between heart and mind.
This musical ride grabs the attention from the very first note and doesn't let go until the last, in part because it’s written with a high octane of vulnerability with which it is very easy to connect.
“I wrote “click or crash” late one night in my room, sitting on my bed with my keyboard, audio recorder, and my notes app. It describes my inner conflict, and lyrically sums up my emotions of doubt, pain, and fear that I’m constantly struggling to overcome. The more stripped-down production and melancholy feel perfectly captures the emotions in my head.” - Bella Stine on the track.
At 17, it's logical that there are many things to express and with her style, this girl from California is determined to capture it all in her music. Her delivery is packed with emotion, effectively conveying the urgency of the song's message, at the time she embraces her inner conflict through her honest and raw storytelling.
"Click or Crash" is also a sort of inspiration to anyone who needs some help to face their own problems and internal contradictions. Hence, it works as the perfect song for those moments of internal evaluation.
The track is accompanied by a video and although it is not as metaphorical as some of the previous ones, it is a magnificent way of visually portraying the emotions that are hidden behind the song.
The video takes place -in principle- inside a room in which Bella waits for something that leads her to go through feelings such as anger, sadness, and frustration.
So far, everything seems to prepare her audience for the arrival of her upcoming EP, “I Know You’re Awake” which will be out on October 6th, from what is seen so far, it will be a self-reflexive repertoire, charged with honest emotions, with the ability to connect with people and with a well-defined musical style without stridency, as her music has been till now.
