Flamenco Meets Daft Punk with Paco Versailles

On Saturday, Nov 4th, the French duo Paco Versailles will be performing at Miami’s newest music venue ZeyZey, bringing their unique blend of flamenco-style guitars with signature French electronic beats.

If you didn’t know that Dancemenco was a thing, now you know, and we can promise you are in for a treat! The duo, composed of guitarist/composer Vahagni and songwriter/producer Ryan Merchant (Capital Cities), has managed to seamlessly combine classical Spanish strings with dance electronic sounds.

As many could have guessed by now, their name is a combination of two of their most straightforward influences: Paco De Lucia and Daft Punk, adding a nod to the lavish French city of Versailles. The playful spirit behind the origin of the band’s name is also reflected in their live performances, spontaneous and full of energy, forcing the audience to get up on their feet and dance to the razor-sharp guitars and catchy vocals.

Paco Versailles’ songs premiered back in 2019. At the time, Merchant threw a few gatherings for DJs to “test-drive” the new sounds. After seeing their colleagues’ reaction to their Dancemenco, the duo knew they had come up with something special. Fast-forward four years, the band is currently touring in promotion of their second album, Young in California. The collection of 10 songs was recorded at a barn converted into a studio in Joshua Tree, and it perfectly captures the laid-back aura of the desert with the assertiveness of their signature sound.

Make sure you catch Paco Versailles next Saturday at ZeyZey, presented by Escala Sonora.

We leave you in the company of the video for their single “Soy Gitano” so you can start pre-gaming for the show.
