Journalist, radio host and TML founder Flor Frances has launched The Making Of, a new podcast that strips things down to the essentials: real, unfiltered conversations with the artists behind some of the most influential albums of the past four decades. The first episode, featuring Mike Score on A Flock of Seagulls’ self-titled debut album, is now streaming on all major platforms.
Each episode of The Making Of dives into the creative and social contexts behind legendary records, featuring exclusive interviews—some newly recorded, others pulled from Frances’ extensive archive. The show’s raw and intimate style makes it feel less like a formal interview and more like eavesdropping on a late-night phone call between friends.
"One of the things I love most about being a journalist is having real, unfiltered conversations—understanding how people think, how they see the world, and the social environments that shape their creativity," says Frances. "Many of these interviews are just phone calls, raw and unpolished, as natural as they come—and to me, that’s what makes The Making Of feel so real."
With episodes running approximately 15 minutes, The Making Of offers a concise but deeply insightful look at an album’s backstory. Following the first episode with Mike Score, upcoming guests include Robbie Grey on Modern English’s Mesh & Lace, Arthur Baker discussing his work on Afrika Bambaataa & The Soulsonic Force’s "Planet Rock" and New Order’s "Confusion" (recorded live at Miami’s Technique Records), and Peter Hook reflecting on Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures and Closer.

Beyond the podcast, Frances is extending the experience into the real world with seasonal in-store live interviews at Technique Records, giving fans an opportunity to engage with artists in person.
With over 15 years in music journalism, Flor Frances is no stranger to in-depth storytelling. Her work has appeared in publications like Miami New Times, Bandcamp Daily, the Miami Herald, and Artburst, and she’s the founder of Too Much Love Magazine and Raygun Agency, both dedicated to promoting alternative music and art communities.
With The Making Of, she brings that same passion for music history and raw storytelling to the podcast world—offering listeners an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at the albums that shaped generations.
The Making Of is out now, with the first episode featuring Mike Score available on all major streaming platforms. New episodes will drop regularly.
