With a powerhouse voice and a strong influence from iconic 90s rock queens, Lauren Vahdani steps back into the spotlight with Can’t Let It Be—a deeply emotional ballad and the fourth single from her highly anticipated debut album, set to release this May.
“I wrote this sad girl bop after a heartbreak back in 2020. It was one of those songs that just poured out of me in a single, cathartic piano session—it’s always tugged at my heartstrings,” Lauren shared on social media, where she also thanked everyone involved in the production of what she calls one of her most personal songs.
Accompanying the release is a music video directed by Charles Byerly and starring actor Nick Nieto. Shot in the rolling hills of Los Angeles, the video takes on even deeper meaning knowing that the golden-hued landscape, once part of the song’s emotional backdrop, was later ravaged by the wildfires that recently swept through the city.
Can’t Let It Be showcases Lauren’s rich, haunting vocals, her innate ability to convey nostalgia and depth in every note, and her exceptional piano skills—all culminating in a breathtaking 3-minute, 52-second masterpiece.
Unlike her previous releases—Benefit of the Doubt, Anxious Love, and Want It With You—this song takes a more delicate, stripped-down approach. Its slow, melodic progression allows listeners to immerse themselves in their own stories of love and loss, making it one of her most intimate pieces yet.
A proud Texas native, Lauren draws inspiration from legendary artists like Alanis Morissette and Jewel, influences that shine through in both her songwriting and vocal delivery. At moments, her voice even evokes the ethereal, raw quality of the late Dolores O’Riordan from The Cranberries.
