Sheva Elliot Returns to Timeless Sounds on Single “Somebody Else’s Man”

Sheva Elliot is a new name in music, but an old-school sound. And if something is clear when listening to her, it is that Sheva always sings from her depths.

As part of her debut album, this past March 24, she released Somebody Else’s Man, written by her and with music by Victor Mechanik. It’s a song with lyrics that encompass feelings such as pain, nostalgia, jealousy, sadness, and resignation. But at the same time, anyone who has been immersed in a love triangle can feel identified with the landscapes that the artist describes.

'Oh how many years have I wasted/ Bettin' my love/ On a losing hand/ And how many times/ Will I break my own heart/ Lookin for my salvation in/ Someone else's man?', she is heard singing in the chorus with her raspy and desperate characteristic voice.

In this song, Sheva delivers a blend of Motown, Soul, Doo-Wop, and Gospel. “Everything about this track is a time capsule – in both its delivery and content. We recorded it just like the old days, live to tape, on the Neve Motown Console. The music video is also a homage to Old Hollywood, depicting the glamorous & ill-fated femme fatale, who haunts the theater in which she sings.”

Somebody Else’s Man shines thanks to a powerful voice that lies on a bed of gospel sounds, piano, rhythm & blues, and bright guitar riffs influenced by the 60s. Also, the song was recorded live on tape on the old Neve Motown Console, so she can truly get an authentic timeless musical expression.

The video is everything that can be expected from the song. Staging with a very vintage vibe, which takes place in an apparently empty theater that only focuses on a Sheva dressed in a shiny dress, with red lips and long nails. Her outline, hairstyle, and the glass of wine in hand, all evoke the classics of cinema. Nostalgia and glamor are breathed throughout the entire tour. Sheva was also the cornerstone of the video, and together with Rick Lawrence, Autumn Skibinski, Georgia Vannewkirk, and others, she achieved the precise aesthetic to accompany the theme.

While her background is blues-rock and soul, the born and raised in the music scene of LA, has recently ventured with a sound she likes to call “cosmic witch rock”. The truth is that, ultimately, her style has a lot of Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Elton John, and Patti Smith. As well as her favorites, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, and the Jackson 5.

Sheva Elliot stirs emotions with her voice, her lyrics, and her innovative fusion of sounds, so please if you’re a fan of this, check out "Somebody Else’s Man" and let us know.
