Ramiro Coll is one of the artists behind the amazing wardrobe styling of Club 69, the legendary party that takes place every Thursday at Niceto Club.

With over 15 years of experience, Ramiro is an eccentric designer that adds shine and excitement to Buenos Aires nightlife. His creativity and versatility are shown every week adapting to different themes and demands. One of his most popular and complex works was his collaboration with the renowned photographer Gaby Herbstein for her production “Aves del Paraíso.”

In this interview Ramiro shares his story and his vision of art.

How did you get started in the world of fashion?
I got involved with fashion at an early age. I used to spend a lot of time at my aunt Olga’s sewing room and I enjoyed playing with fabrics and buttons. When I grew up I studied Fine Arts and then I finished my studies at the Vocational Institute of Art (V.A.T.) where I graduated with a major in Cultural Animator. My early work was as a Performer, I had to produce my own costumes and characterizations. Then I also worked with photographers such as  Mark Lopez, David Sisso and Gaby Herbstein.

Every Thursday at Club 69 you have to come up with a different theme. Where do you get your inspiration from?
Games, ludic things, from a painting to a sculpture. In CLUB 69 we must represent a different theme every week. It is a real challenge. I’ve been working for 15 years for this parties and is where I have learned more from the world of fashion and performance.

How do you manage to bring those ideas down to wardrobe styling?
Always having fun and thinking of the person who will be wearing the costume and its functionality.

What do you want to express with your outfits ?
Joy, movement, dance .

Three words that identify you as a stylist…
Eccentric, theatrical, Detailed

How is your personality reflected in the characters you create?
With their dynamism and vibrations. I try to highlight the characters with the costumes.

Favorite material and colors …
I don’t really have favorite materials, everything is useful when I have to put together a character. Regarding to color, I like the most vibrant colors and to combine them to create optical illusions .

Con más de 15 años de trayectoria, Ramiro es un vestuarista excéntrico que da brillo y diversion a la noche porteña. Su creatividad y versatilidad se ponen a prueba semana a semana adaptándose a diferentes temáticas y demandas. ¿Cómo fueron tus inicios en el mundo de la moda?
Desde muy chico, pasaba mucho tiempo en el taller de costura de mi Tía Olga y me gustaba jugar con telas y botones. Ya de más grande estudié Artes Plásticas y teminé estudiando en el I.V.A. Instituto Vocacional de Arte donde me recibí de Animador Cultural con especialidad en Medios Audiovisuales. Mis primeros trabajos como Performer, me tenía que producir mis propios trajes y caracterizaciones . También trabajando junto a fotógrafos como Marcos Lopez, David Sisso y Gaby Herbstein en producción y arte.

¿Qué es lo que te inspira a la hora de crear una temática?
El juego, lo lúdico desde una pintura a una escultura, más que en el CLUB 69 hay que lograr todas las semanas plasmar una temática distinta . Es un verdadero desafío. Hace 15 años que trabajo y en Club 69 es en donde más aprendí del mundo de la moda y el show.

¿Cómo haces para bajarla a vestuario?
Siempre divirtiéndome y pensando en la persona que va a usar el vestuario y su funcionalidad.

¿Qué querés expresar con tus estilismos?
Alegría, movimento, baile.

Tres palabras que te identifiquen como vestuarista…
Detalle, excéntrico, teatral.

¿Qué tanto tienen los personajes de vos?
La vibración , trato que los vestuarios potencien a los personajes, los exalte .

Material y colores preferidos…
No tengo materiales preferidos , todo sirve en el momento de armar un personaje y los colores los más vibrantes y combinaciones que tengan juegos ópticos.
