Thursday, November 1st – Dead Can Dance Listening Party @ Technique Records
Tonight, Technique Records will be holding a listening party for the latest release of 80’s avant-garde darkwave duo Dead Can Dance. The Austrailian outfit’s music has been described as “constructed soundscapes of mesmerizing grandeur and solemn beauty”, and their new album is as layered and conceptual as ever. Dionysus will be internationally released on November 2nd. Head on over to Technique tonight from 6 pm – 8 pm for a preview of their latest work and as an added bonus, a purchase of the album enters you for a chance to win a giveaway prize! More info
Friday, November 2nd – Miami Money Dance Party @ The Villain Theater
In partnership with This Free Life (a campaign that works to prevent and reduce tobacco use among young adults who identify as LGBTQ), a ‘Miami Money Dance Party’ will be taking over The Villain Theatre this Friday from 10 pm – 3 am. Hosted by powerhouse performer Miss Toto, and featuring an impressive roster of Miami’s best drag acts, the parties manifesto is to create: “An opulent experience focused on how living tobacco-free can save your body and your savings account”. While the event is 18+, there will be an open bar from 10:30-11:30 for the of-agers! Sounds like a pretty great night to me. More info
Friday, November 2nd-4th -Ballbusters on Parade 2018 @Churchill’s Pub
Hardcore For Punx have outdone their already stellar reputation for booking hard-to-get bands from South America and beyond with their line-up for Ballbusters on Parade. The micro-fest is ready to welcome a serious list of international, out of town, and local/south Floridian heavyweights starting this Friday all the way through Sunday. The organizers have set up 3 nights of debauchery on 2 stages for y’all with the quality, energy and overall volume of the music getting anticipation high. The festival acts as a congregation of punks, metalheads, hardcore and crossover fans and everything in between. Advance online tickets are already sold out, so you’ll have to try at the door! At the heart of Miami’s MiMo historic district, the New Yorker Patio Bar feels like a well-kept secret and an oasis of laid-back local vibes. Saturday, November 3rd – Gustavo Matamoros: AUDIOTHEQUE 2.0 Miami’s Sound Chamber @ Audiotheque
Audiotheque 2.0 is a 2017 Knight Arts Challenge project and is featuring Matamoros’s latest sound installation project, conceived as a chamber for sound introspection in celebration of the auditory sense. This Saturday will be featuring ‘Listening Club: The Archive, in which Audiotheque have dug into the Subtropics sound media archives to present a couple of works from its sound art collection. Saturday, November 3rd – Blac Rabbit (NYC), Jaialai, Moongazer & DJ Goldie Brown @ Las Rosas
This Saturday starting at 9 pm, Hero’s Live Entertainment present: New York natives and identical twin brothers Blac Rabbit (Amiri and Rahiem Taylor), who will be headlining a show at Las Rosas alongside sets from Miami psych-rock meets Garage rock outfit Jaialai, and neo-psychedelia space rockers Moongazer, with DJ sets from DJ Goldie Brown of Jacuzzi Boys. Since the beginning of this year, when a video of them performing went viral, Psych-rock band Blac Rabbit has been on the road non-stop, and come to Miami this time around 3/4 of the way through their ‘Seize The Day Tour’. Their debut full-length album is set for release in early 2019. The show is 21+ and is free of charge, so head out for some good music and tip your bartenders. More info
