Another week, another lineup of great events in and around our beloved city of Miami. From live shows at local institutions to house shows and warehouse parties, we have a little bit of everything for everyone! Here is our weekly picks:
Thursday, August 9th – The Takeover: A Night of Rock at The Anderson
As a strong believer in making Thursdays the official kick off to weekend vibes, Too Much Love Mag presents: The Takeover, a night of drink specials and everything rock-centric starting from 9pm to late pm. Every second and fourth Thursday of the month, we invite local and touring artists and bands to takeover the DJ booth, playing all the rock that was formative along their musical evolution. Tonight, the special guests include artist and producer Millionyoung, and artiste extraordinaire GAMI. There is no cover at the door, and drink specials will last as long as you do, including $4 beers, $7 margaritas and $6 shots. Tap in to your inner Lemmy, and step in to a killer night of great music and even better company ! More info
Friday, August 10th – The Babylon Club featuring Ordinary Boys @ The Anderson
Yet another great event coming out of The Anderson this weekend, Friday hosts The Babylon Club: A night dedicated to the style, flash and pizzaz of the 1980’s Miami club scene. Headlined by Ordinary Boys, a Smiths and Morrissey tribute act, start unbuttoning your wide lapeled shirts, dusting off that snakeskin on snakeskin and white on white, and get ready for a distinctly Miami night. The event starts at 10pm and there is no cover at the door! More info
Friday, August 10th – Jayda G and Brother Dan @ The Electric Pickle
As we mourn last weeks announcement that The Electric Pickle will be closing its doors as of next year, let us not forget that we still have the pleasure of a long goodbye. This Friday, starting at 10pm to 5am, The Pickle will be lending its dj booth to Vancouver based Jayda G: artist, dj, and co-founder of Freakout Cult ( A new label project started with fried and collaborator DJ Fett Burger). A connoisseur of disco, house and acid fusions, the event – with an opening set from dj Brother Dan, and it’s sure to be a great one. The event is of course 21+, and tickets are available here, prices ranging from $15-$25, so act now! More info
Saturday, August 11th – Warehouse Party: Haute Tension, Las Nubes, Glass Body and more @ 5740 NE 4th Ave
Coming up to being halfway through their ’31 shows in 31 days’ Miami micro tour, Haute Tension, fresh off their name change and in anticipation of their album release on the 31st, will be playing at (nicknamed) ‘Union’s headquarters’, a local favorite and already infamous DIY venue space. The lineup also includes Las Nubes (also fresh off a name change – FKA Smvt), Glass Body, and DJ sets from Gabe Kardashian and Juan Macedonio. The space, fitted out with an impressive hand crafted bar and stage – built with love and dedication to the Miami DIY music scene by pioneer of these parties Juan Manuel – has already housed countless shows from local and touring musicians. Gaining momentum within the past 5 years, the space has staged everyone from now NY based Deaf Poets, Wastelands, Denudes and many many more. Saturdays iteration is not gonna be one to miss; the party starts at 8pm, with a small $5 cover at the door to support the local music, and never forget to tip yo’ bartenders. More info
