What’s up with communication these days? We’re so incessantly connected yet the majority of us have been tainted by a love that’s unrequited. It burns even slower when the fire is left to fade on its own; but the heartbroken will certainly feel better just by listening to the modern genius that is Amy D.’s new single ‘Unrequited‘. The vibrant, gently sassy song goes out to – yup, you guessed it – all the ghosters out there.
Taking back the power of communication, neo-soul artist Amy D. puts a heartfelt flame into a blend of jazz and R&B soundscapes. The song is filled with gripping rhythms, waking us up with it’s a jovial pace. Colorful harmonies back up the powerhouse singer while catchy melodies are sure to swim around your psyche for days. Finally, seductive textures combined with modern sensibilities dress the song with an old school charm, while the lyrics grab any listener who’s ever had a crush on anyone ever.
Amy recruited master keyboardist Michael Aaberg “Mike Tiger” (Goapele, Lalah Hathaway) for this track, who’s influences helped Amy to blend genres and achieve the venture she was seeking. After completing her classical studies and operatic training at Chapman University Conservatory of Music in Southern California, Amy D. established herself as an in-demand and much-admired jazz vocalist, headlining notable venues throughout Northern California. She plans to embark on a tour later this year in support of her new music.
Sharing a message of connection and communication, Amy pleads with her audiences to speak their minds: “The conversations we don’t have are ghosts lingering in the distance of our subconscious minds. There is no time like the present to own your authentic voice and express how you really feel.”
